In 2016, Sarah and Alex stepped into the family legacy, bringing fresh energy and modern ideas to 'Iolani Sportswear. They learned from decades of craftsmanship while navigating the challenges of evolving retail and long-standing factory traditions. Through the River & Up kid's line, they discovered what today’s parents truly value—affordable quality and practical design. They realized that tradition and innovation aren’t opposites—they work hand in hand.

In 2020, when the world came to a stop, childhood didn’t. The backyard—affectionately called Alikaleo Park—became the family’s playground and sanctuary. During that time, they realized kids needed to be outside, and parents needed simple, protective solutions. Yet, there were no everyday sun-protection options children actually wanted to wear. That moment inspired a mission: to help every family feel that same sense of freedom.

From a simple backyard idea, Alikaleo Park emerged as a new beginning. Using vintage 'Iolani Sportswear artwork, the team created everyday sun-protection activewear designed for real kids — unisex, oversized, affordable, and full of color. Every piece is tested by their own children for over six months before release, ensuring comfort and durability. What started as a family project has now grown into 13 retail locations and counting. “We’re not just making clothes. We’re protecting childhoods.”
